EXCLUSIVE Little Mix’s Perrie Edwards: ‘Women In This Industry Get Ridiculed More Than Men’

You would think that being a member of one of the biggest girl groups on the planet would be pretty bloomin’ amazing - especially when the group in question is none other than actual Little Mix.

We mean, all four members are absolutely gorgeous, super talented, ridiculously lovely, and, on top of all of that, actual bezzie mates.

How bad could it be?

Still, when we caught up with the girls for an exclusive chat, they revealed that being a mega-famous female in this day and age doesn’t come without its downfalls.

We mean, they absolutely love every second of their lives, but they can’t help but feel that they get a bit of a hard time compared to their male counterparts.

Opening up about the bad rap women in the industry get, 21-year-old Perrie Edwards, who is engaged to former One Direction star, Zayn Malik, says: “Men are completely different to women - women get ridiculed a lot more.”

A sentiment that Jesy Nelson, who is dating Rixton’s Jake Roche, agrees with, adding: “100%. You never see a guy in a magazine for putting on weight or for getting too skinny, ever.

“Ever, ever, ever. And nowadays girls like boys who look a little bit rough - a guy goes out looking like he’s slept outside for two weeks and he looks hot, if a girl did that she’d get slated.

“Girls are just meant to look perfect.”

Giving an insight into her own relationship, Perrie tells us: “We all love a bit of fake but at the same time you have to embrace who you are and be natural.

“If you can’t be with someone in a pair of jeans with a bowl of popcorn on your lap, looking like cr*p, what’s the point? I couldn’t bear that.”

We couldn’t agree more, babes.

Giving us a bit of a motivational speech that we are used to receiving from the new faces of girl power, Jesy concludes with: “You just can’t win to be honest.

“You either get ridiculed for wearing too much or for wearing too little. Therefore you just be who you want to be - if you’re happy wearing loads of make-up and loads of hair, so be it.

“And if you don’t want to wear make-up, so be it. If you’re happy, so be it. It’s hard to say ‘don’t care what people think’, because no matter what age you are, you always care about what people think about you.

“As you get older you do care less, but you never completely stop caring. Everyone cares when someone says something mean about you, but i just think when you’re younger everything is more embarrassing - silly little things that you wouldn’t care about now, like a spot.”

And with the girls finally back in the spotlight with their hotly-anticipated new single, ‘Black Magic’, they hope that they will continue to influence their young fans to be confident, sassy, and ruddy brilliant people.

Explaining the premise behind their fantastic new music video, Leigh-Anne Pinnock shared: “We hope that people understand the message, and the message is that the potion we take is confidence.

"That’s what we are giving the girls around the world; if you have a little bit of confidence you can do anything and it’s so important to believe in yourself, and that’s what the message is.”

To be honest, we couldn’t think of a better message if we tried.
